ACCELERATING
SECURITY MATURITY
IN A TIME OF
ECONOMIC
UNCERTAINITY
With cyber-attacks increasing
in frequency, sophistication, and
becoming ever more harmful,
understanding the security maturity
required to address the evolving threat
has become critical. However, many
organisations face an up-hill challenge
when it comes to maturing their
cybersecurity due to a combination
of economic uncertainty, a worsening
cyber skills shortage, and a growing
pressure to prove return on investment
and risk reduction. On top of that,
businesses are operating larger,
more complex IT environments that
require a broader set of skills, deeper
knowledge, and a range of security
tools to defend.
The pressure this places on organisations is only
com pounded by theirow n expanding attack surface
prom pted by the shifttow ards hybrid w orking,as
w ellas the continued evolution ofthe cybercrim e
ecosystem ,both in breadth and depth.Indeed,
research by C heck Pointhighlighted a 38% surge in
cyber-attacks perw eek in 2022,com pared to the
preceding year.A w orrying figure given thatalm ost
